Player of the Week
July 4th 2009 -

Both Players of the Week are 2008 Cy Young winners who pitched and hit their way to victory last week.

The long ball was the big story in the 18+, while in the 28+ it was pitching.

18+ Player of the Week

Eric Teall

Arrows

28+ Player of the Week

Pete Martin

Expos

The Arrows ace took control of the game, racking up 13K’s and allowing 5 hits in 5 IP.  Eric also added to the Arrows hot bats on Sunday with a 2 for 3 day, scoring 3 runs and knocking in 6 more on a double and a Grand Slam.

Eric gets the riblets for the second time this season.

Pete was impressive in his complete game win, striking out 15 and allowing only one run on five hits to the hard- hitting Titans.

Adding a 2 for 4 day at the plate with 2 Runs scored was icing on the cake for the first time POTW winner.

Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention

Seth Paul had 2 Home Runs, a Single and Double for 11 Total Bases, 4 Runs scored and 4 RBI in the Arrows win.

Veteran David Clendennin and newcomer Ryan Wyland combined for 8 RBI in the Hurricanes win.  David, going 4 for 4 with a Home Run and Ryan going 3 for 4 with a Grand Slam.

Pirates iron man Dustin Brown picked up another complete game, besting the previously unbeaten Braves.

Mike Nagel allowed only 2 Earned Runs in 6 2/3 against the Cardinals before a line drive to the head required an ambulance and a trip to the ER.  The Bulldog pitcher actually recorded an assist on the play when the ball bounced high enough for the second baseman to get under it and make the catch.  Mike’s OK except for the dent.
