2007 IABL Father/Son Inaugral Tournament Results

It was unanimous:  For every "first timer" father/son pair, the thrill was beyond their expectations.  I had numerous people come up to me and thank me for organizing the event and allowing such a rare treat to play baseball beside their sons.  Many talked enthusiastically about putting together a powerhouse team for Phoenix in 2008.

Ample snacks and water and gatorade were provided at which all players seemed pleased.

Here's the results:

1st Place:    Indy Blues   2-0
2nd place:    Indy Reds    1-1
3rd Place:    Terre Haute Volkers 0-2.

Game 1:
Blues defeated Reds 8-3.  Strong pitching performance by Son Ryan Miller and Father Lee Miller, going full 9 innings between them.  Starnes Family had THREE GENERATIONS on the field!!  Grandfather Ray Starnes had multiple hits; Father Tom Starnes and Son Tommy Starnes had crucial hits in the game also.  Dave and Eric  Burns from Fort Wayne MSBL also had key hits.

Game 2:
Blues fall behind Terre Haute 3-0.  62 year old Don Sturm shut out the Blues for his 4 innings.  Ironically, the Blues were able to handle the faster pitching from the Terre Haute sons bullpen and pulled ahead to a 10-4 victory.

Game 3:
Reds defeated Terre Haute 10-6.  Reds fielded a full Ciasto (Mike, Ted, and Jacob) outfield for part of the game, followed by a full Pollard outfield (Don, Kellen and Casey).  Key hits by Doug and Nick Harrison and Jim Ciasto put go ahead runs on the board.  Cory and Don Noel provided 18 innings behind the plate.

Thanks to everyone who made this happen,
